What follows are some tips on how to get leads for your business. We will keep adding more tips and ideas on how to get leads as we learn of them.

 

What are leads?

 

Leads are simply contact information for people that are interested in your business or what you have to offer for sale. There are fresh leads and stale leads. Fresh leads are people who have very recently expressed an interest in what you have to offer. Stale leads are people that have expressed an interest in what you have to offer, but some time ago. They may have already purchased what they need or moved on and have become uninterested. Obviously the most desirable leads are the fresh leads.

How can I get leads?

 

There are many ways to generate leads. You can find them on your own or you can purchase them. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Generating leads on your own can be done by advertising, writing articles, building web sites, and getting people to come to you requesting information. Purchasing leads gives you the targeted leads you need fast, but you must pay for them. Actually purchasing leads may be cheaper than building a web site, promoting that web site, and trying your best to get people to leave their contact information. When you purchase leads you get the targeted clients you want fast and can concentrate on your core business. I would suggest a combination of purchased leads and those you generate on your own. That way you get the best of both worlds.

 

 

Tips for Generating your Own Leads

 

  • Start your own newsletter
  • Build a content rich website on your related topic
  • Leave messages on all message forums you can find and use signature lines
  • Use Pay Per Click search engines to get subscriptions to your newsletter
  • User Pay Per Click search enginges to get traffic to your website.
  • Offer a free email course on your topic
  • Use direct mail such as postcards
  • Advertise on radio or magazines
  • Write articles on your topic
  • Start a contest or drawing

  • Create an article on hubpages.com on an area related to your product. place a link to your MLM website Offer a free report (ie PDF) download. 
  • Build a lens on www.squidoo.com that is related to your product or service and add a link to your site. 
  • Create a podcast 
  • Add video to your site featuring testimonials and case studies. 
  • Create a video tutorial or "how to" and post it on Youtube and other video sharing sites. 
  • Participate in forums that you enjoy and provide helpful advice (you can add a link in your signature). 
  • Create a blog about your MLM. (Talk about the products, how customers are benefiting from using them, your own experiences, related subjects, how you are building your business, resources you have discovered etc).

Leads are important to your business and you must generate them. Once you have leads however you must not waste them. Have a plan of action to get your message in front of your leads as soon as possible. Use auto-responders if your leads are e-mail based. Use frequent postcard mailings or letters if your leads are postal mail based. Don't let your leads get stale.
