Getting a downline is a lot of work. It can be expensive as well. Many network marketers are spending big bucks on online advertising. It does pay to advertise, that much is certain. There is a new breed of network marketer however that attempts to take the sting out of advertising by making it pay for itself. The trick is to sell something else, an ebook, course, second MLM, leads, etc., advertise that, and use those dollars to keep the advertising rolling. A certain percentage of those who buy your stuff will be interested in your opportunity or products. There are even slick systems all set up to do it for you. The "marketing funnel" approach allows you to advertise something small, then graduate to a larger and larger product. Some of these can go for $3,000 to $10,000 at the top end.
Many have found success using systems, but others just lose money and focus. It is easy to get all excited about the lead generating system and forget about your main company. Often the secondary lead generation system becomes the main company for many simply because it is new, exciting, and perhaps also because they start making dollars quickly. The danger in high end systems is that when big bucks are involved there is always someone who complains to either the Ripoff Report, the FTC, or BBB when they feel they have been "ripped off" or when they buy the high end product, don't do anything with it, and start getting buyer's remorse about the whole thing. When a refund request is denied, sparks start to fly and it just makes the whole network marketing industry look bad. |
